"I stand with and for our CHILDREN, our SCHOOLS and our FUTURE!"
My Journey in Education
Dr. Donaldo R. Batiste is a lifelong educator and unwavering advocate for our children's needs and for the future of our schools. With nearly five decades of dedicated service (including 28 of these years spent in New Orleans Public Schools), Dr. Batiste has transformed the lives of countless students, supported a vast array of teachers, and uplifted all the communities in which he served. As a current member of the Orleans Parish School Board for District 4, he has consistently demonstrated his commitment to ensuring that every child in New Orleans receives the quality education they deserve. His extensive experience, from his early days as a classroom teacher to his tenure as an award-winning principal and superintendent, has equipped him with the knowledge and leadership needed to navigate and address the challenges of our educational system.
Throughout his career, Dr. Batiste has been a relentless advocate for innovation and equity in education. As Superintendent of Schools for Waukegan Community Unit School District, he led with vision and integrity, earning recognition as Lake County Superintendent of the Year in 2012. Under his leadership, the district thrived with a budget of over $332 million and implemented programs that significantly improved student outcomes. His dedication to education did not stop there; as a Professor of Education at the University of Holy Cross, Dr. Batiste continues to shape the future by mentoring aspiring leaders across all sectors, ensuring that the next generation is prepared to carry the torch forward.
Dr. Batiste’s academic achievements are a testament to his commitment to excellence. He earned his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of New Orleans and holds advanced degrees in Educational Administration and Supervision from Southeastern Louisiana University, as well as in Speech, Language, and Hearing Therapy from LSU Medical Center and Nicholls State University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. These credentials, combined with his practical experience, make him uniquely qualified to understand the complexities of our education system and to implement strategies that work.
Driven by his deep roots in New Orleans and a profound belief in the power of education, Dr. Batiste stands with and for our children, our schools, and our future. His vision for the Orleans Parish School Board is clear: to create equitable opportunities for all students, ensure safe and supportive learning environments, and foster a strong partnership between our schools and the community. Re-elect Dr. Donaldo R. Batiste, a leader who has always been there for us—because together, we can build a brighter future for every child in District 4 and across this city.
